When our clients Mr. and Mrs. Choudhury called Mr. Cabinet Care, they were desperate for an update on their 1950’s home. The original walls obstructed beautiful views of their backyard and made the space feel dark and closed in. We knew it would take a major overhaul to bring brightness and beauty to this space, but we were up for the challenge. Follow us on the blog as we reveal before and after photos and the inspiring story behind this amazing remodel.
The family: The Choudhurys

Kitchen Designer: Mike Pongs

– Alder wood cabinets
– Durango style door
– Spice stain color
Mr. Choudhury’s dream was to add a kitchen island large enough to accommodate a built-in wine rack – but with only 3,000 sq feet in total, this mid-century home didn’t have much room to play with. Much of the home, including the kitchen, was in its original 50-year-old condition – which meant tons of walls, too many cabinets, and tired-looking floors.
Looking over the floorplan, Mike, the kitchen designer, had a bold idea to remove the cumbersome wall which separated the kitchen from the dinning room. Yes it would require a bit more demo work, but the outcome would be worth it.

Just as expected, the beautiful open concept floor plan makes this home the perfect gathering place for guests and family. As an added bonus, Mr. Choudhury was happy to get his huge, custom-built island, perfect for storing some of his favorite wine.
The original kitchen window allowed some light in, but Mrs. Choudhury really wanted to expand its size to bring more of their outside surroundings in.
By installing a larger kitchen window, Mrs. Choudhury is able to turn the chore of dish cleaning into a relaxing escape by enjoying the view of their beautiful backyard.
By installing brand-new cabinetry, state-of-the art appliances, new flooring, and a bold backsplash, the Choudhury’s new kitchen is luxurious and functional. Mr. Cabinet Care has turned this 60 year old home, into a modern masterpiece.
